The string instruments are what makes an orchestra an orchestra and the sound of the strings is highlighted in a program including the beloved Violin Concerto of Felix Mendelssohn featuring as soloist Kaylee Bontrager. Kaylee is the daughter of concertmaster Mary Bontrager and an alumna of the Tuscarawas Philharmonic String camp. Members of the string camp will be joining the Philharmonic for a performance of the robust Concerto Grosso for Three String Orchestras by Ralph Vaughan Williams. We'll also play a personal favorite of mine, the electrifying Concerto grosso #1 by Ernst Bloch.
