Once upon a time, you did not know the Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2. You did not know its soaring melodies or their dynamic development, the heroic first movement, the lyrically romantic second or the robust finale. Once, you didn’t know about the thrilling and thundering pianism it requires of the soloist. Now … you know these things and can look forward to hearing the piece performed by our young soloist, Avery Gagliano. Oh, and it’s likely that, at present, you are not familiar with the utterly charming Czech Suite by Antonin Dvorak, or the whimsically captivating Suite Masques et Bergamasques by Gabriel Faure. After this concert, you’ll know them all … and will be very, very glad.
